The Battery Maritime Building is a Beaux-Arts ferry terminal completed in 1909, designed by the Walker and Morris architectural firm. It served as a municipal ferry terminal for decades before falling into disuse. The Cipriani family undertook a restoration of the upper floors of the landmarked building, transforming it into a club spanning multiple levels with dining rooms, lounges, a ballroom, a spa, a swimming pool, a gym, and 47 hotel rooms available to members and their guests. The interiors draw on Italian neoclassical design with marble floors, Murano glass chandeliers, and custom millwork.

Membership at Casa Cipriani costs approximately 3,900 dollars per year with a 2,000-dollar initiation fee. Junior memberships are available at reduced rates. The club attracted a waitlist of over 4,000 people following its opening. Members have included figures from entertainment, finance, and media.
