About

OTB is an Italian fashion group founded by entrepreneur Renzo Rosso and headquartered in Breganze, in the Veneto region of Italy. The holding company, whose name stands for Only The Brave, was established in 2002 to bring together Rosso's fashion interests, which began with the denim brand Diesel, founded in 1978.

The group's brand portfolio spans contemporary and luxury fashion: Diesel, the denim and lifestyle brand that remains its foundation; Maison Margiela, the Paris fashion house acquired in 2002; Marni, the Milanese luxury brand acquired in 2015; Jil Sander, acquired in 2021; and Viktor&Rolf, in which OTB holds a controlling stake. The group also owns the industrial companies Staff International and Brave Kid, which develop and produce clothing, footwear, and accessories for OTB brands and under license for third parties.

OTB positions itself as an alternative luxury group with a focus on creativity and unconventional brands rather than heritage houses. It operates more than fifteen hundred monobrand stores worldwide across its portfolio and generates a majority of sales outside Italy, with significant business in Asia.

The group has stated ambitions for a possible public listing and has invested in digital ventures and sustainability programs, while the OTB Foundation, its non-profit arm, funds social development projects. Renzo Rosso remains chairman, with family members involved in brand leadership.

OTB has carved out a genuinely distinct role among Italian luxury groups by deliberately positioning itself against the heritage-house orthodoxy that dominates the sector. Renzo Rosso's willingness to back conceptually difficult, sometimes deliberately uncommercial creative visions, most visibly through Maison Margiela's conceptual output and Marni's playful eclecticism, has produced some of the most genuinely interesting design work in fashion over the past two decades, even when it hasn't always translated into the commercial consistency of a Kering or LVMH brand. Diesel's continued reinvention under creative direction that leans into internet-native, maximalist denim culture shows a group willing to take real creative risk rather than coast on nostalgia. The 2021 addition of Jil Sander and the Viktor&Rolf stake broaden the portfolio's range from minimalism to couture-adjacent spectacle. Vertical manufacturing through Staff International supports quality control, though OTB's brands sit at a slightly less rarefied price and craft tier than the pure heritage houses. It's a group defined more by creative daring than polish, which is itself the appeal.
